Antibacterial Activities of Various Antibiotics Against Clinical Isolates of Escherichia coli

Antibiotics are a vital tool in the treatment of wide range bacterial diseases, but their overuse and abuse leading to resistance. Objectives: To check antibacterial activities various antibiotics against E. coli. Methods: Collection samples was done from patients at Fatima Memorial Hospital's pathology department Lahore, Pakistan, for this investigation. Total 170 clinical isolates coli were isolated all collected. Conventional culture biochemical tests used identification bacteria. Antibacterial activity assessed by comparing antibiotic susceptibility patterns commercial discs (cefazolin, cefepime, cefixime, cefotaxime, cefoxitin, ceftriaxone, ceftazidime, cefuroxime, cephalothin, amikacin, amoxycillin, ampicillin, Augmentin, ciprofloxacin, clindamycin, gentamycin, imipenem, levofloxacin, linezolid, meropenem, nalidixic acid, nitrofurantoin, norfloxacin, ofloxacin, rifampicin, vancomycin) using Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method. Results: which showed high sensitivity Escherichia imipenem (100%), nitrofurantoin gentamycin (99%) amikacin (92%). showing resistance meropenem ceftazidime (98%), cefepime (78%), ofloxacin cefuroxime cefazolin (74%) ciprofloxacin (65%). Conclusions: We concluded that widespread isolates. There is need improve technical facilities minimize selecting appropriate proper hand washing recommended.
